Over 1.3 million kilograms of plastic waste are generated every day in Monrovia. About 84% of this waste is mismanaged. That’s according to UNDP.
To many, this is a real problem; some even say it is a time bomb waiting to explode. But for CI-Liberia we saw the passion of Liberian-owned enterprises to turn this challenge into hope.
Through the Adaptation Accelerator Program, Liberian enterprises like the Female Assistance Initiative Towards Help (FAITH) Inc. and HYSAA are leading the change in Liberia, turning plastic waste into durable and environmentally friendly bricks.
These two groups have bigger plans of expansion, thriving and attracting bigger partners to scale up. Creating more jobs and less pollution—this is real impact.
